what will you be doing this weekend?

I know the week is just beginning, but I want to talk about this weekend. Let me tell you about a couple of exciting, local events that will be taking place.


Number One: If you are in or near Provo, I highly suggest and recommend that you attend Justin Hackworth's 30 Strangers exhibit. The exhibit opens on the 2nd and, if it is anything like last year, it will be an excellent gathering of awesome people, with incredible portraits and photographs to admire. (Seriously, Justin is one talented guy.) And, if you can't make it on the 2nd, the exhibit will be open until the 9th (excluding the 4th, of course) minus the sizzle of opening night (but still totally worth it.) Don’t be a stranger

A little more about the project and exhibit: How did one photographer and 30 strangers team up to help local victims of domestic violence? Find out when art and activism come together at a downtown Provo gallery on Friday, July 2. Featuring the work of Justin Hackworth, the “30 Strangers III: Portraits of Mothers& Daughters” exhibit will raise funds for the Center for Women & Children in Crisis
For each day in April 2010 Justin Hackworth photographed a mother and daughter he had never met before. Instead of the usual session fee, Hackworth asked participants to make donations the the Center for Women and Children in Crisis. The fundraising continues on July 2 at the opening reception, you can schedule your own mother-daughter portrait session with Justin Hackworth for a $75 donation to the Center.


Number Two:
South Salt Lake's Freedom Festival The fun begins July 2nd at 6 p.m. with activities and fireworks at Granite High, and continues July 3rd with a parade and activities at Fitts Park.
I'm pretty bummed, because I won't be able to make it to the 30 strangers opening night, but SSL Fredom Fest makes up for it.
This will be my 5th year attending, and it's something I look forward to every year. I have to admit, the biggest draw, for me, is the fireworks show. I have never been disappointed by it, in fact, it seems like it gets better every year.
Even Conrad is excited, he can't stop talking about the fireworks. Of course, he thinks they're for his birthday (which is a week from today! Eek!)
